Lloyd's Marine Intelligence Unit is proud to announce that the first stage of our brand new AIS generated movement service is live.

Lloyd's Marine Intelligence Unit (LloydsMIU) is already internationally recognised as the only source able to provide today's shipping industry with a comprehensive global view of the movements of the world's merchant fleet.

Our aim has always been to make the coverage we offer as close to 'real time' as possible. The advancements we have made over the last two years have brought us closer to this goal than ever before but, by investing heavily in AIS technology, we are sure no service will be able to rival Seasearcher on either a regional or worldwide basis.

Rather than relying on finding people willing to purchase equipment to be used on our behalf, LloydsMIU have taken the unprecedented - and expensive - step of purchasing receivers for each member of its existing network of agents.

This has not only encouraged our agents to assist, it also means that as a client you will soon have access to live traffic reports from each of the 2600 areas we monitor.

Map of AIS Coverage

STEP 1:

From Monday June 6th Seasearcher users will have noticed the 'Latest Report' screen includes a new line of text - AIS - showing the latest position of the vessel, the nearest port and the time and date the information is received. To enable it to stand out, this field will be highlighted in blue.

STEP 2:

The LloydsMIU AIS Mapping Interface now runs in tandem with Seasearcher offering users the ability to match information from a current voyage to a graphical illustration of both the latest position of a vessel and the traffic around a specific port.

LMIU AIS also allows you to study the total traffic in the way you need to. The LMIU AIS screens will allow the records to be filtered by type, classification, flag, by gross and deadweight tonnages and by status (under way/berthed/anchored).

Most importantly, by allowing you to switch seamlessly from the traffic map into Seasearcher and visa versa you can guarantee the ownership, characteristics, casualty, detention and ports records that underline each map and each vessel position are of the highest quality and as easy for you to access and cross-reference as they can be.
