AIS Agents Required
Lloyd’s MIU has the largest global network of AIS receivers, and is looking for reliable and reputable organisations to add further locations in return for some benefits.
We are internationally recognised as the only comprehensive source of global ship movements in the world. Our website, www.lloydsmiu.com allows customers to track vessels and monitor port traffic from their desktop.
An AIS receiver collects the data that the IMO requires all ships over 300gt to transmit. The AIS data we publish only goes to paying customers who have been suitably vetted, and many of our customers use this data to detect and monitor traffic thus ensuring that shipping is safer for all.
Lloyd’s MIU is already collecting AIS data from many ports around the globe, primarily
through our exclusive relationship with all the Lloyd’s Agents.
We are currently looking for agents to enhance our global AIS coverage, if you wish to apply then you must fulfil the following criteria:
- Your office must be located in close proximity to the port/waterway (within 1km).
- You must be able to mount an external aerial on the roof top of your office building. You must be able to put the AIS receiver near a power plug and near the internet connection, and no further than 30 meters of cable away from where the aerial will be located.
If we can place a receiver in your organisation’s office you will receive the following:
- FREE access to real-time AIS data for your port, via the AIS service on www.lloydsmiu.com
- FREE internet connectivity if you don’t currently have it
- Lloyd’s MIU will pay the cost of installing and maintaining the AIS receiver, you just have to provide the location and electricity!
- You can cancel at any point and give 3 months notice if you are unsatisfied with the service
